UPDATED WITH SUMMARY MEETING NOTES

Welcome and Pledge

  • Thanks to everyone who responded to the two-question membership survey.  The Officers are evaluating the comments and working to formulate a plan to best incorporate the feedback received.
  • Friday Cheers was very successful last evening.  We had 11 people show up to help out including Kim and Les Allan, Jeff Autry, Dave Bradley, Jose and Mini Cruz plus their daughter Debbie and her friend Audrey, as well as Shane Huskey, Craig O Smith, and Keith Smith.
  • Our next volunteer fundraising event is Richmond River Rock, Friday, May 17th from 5:45 to 9:30 and Sunday, May 19th from 11:45 to 5:30.  Additional Friday Cheers events are Friday, May 24th and Friday June 7th each from 5:30 to 9:30.  Please RSVP on HOGSCAN or email one of the officers if you can help out with ANY of these days/times.  We will email you a free parking pass.
  • There are several upcoming dealership events where volunteers are needed as well.  Please check in with the dealership or email Ema at [email protected] if you are interested in helping out.
  • SteelHorse HOG placed 3rd overall in the Chapter Challenge.  And our own Bob Chase won the $2000 bike customization package!  Black Wolf H-D was the Challenge overall winner; Division winners were:
    • Stonewall Harley Davidson in Orange, VA - Panhead
    • Roanoke Valley Harley Davidson in Roanoke, VA- Shovelhead
    • Hampton Roads Harley Davidson in Yorktown, VA - Knucklehead
  • There were twice as many riders that showed up for the ride out to the Chapter Challenge than were signed up on HOGSCAN.  This contributed to some delays and could result in potential liability issues for the Chapter since it was difficult to get everyone checked in that morning. PLEASE RSVP on HOGSCAN for any rides you join.  This will prevent future confusion and liability concerns for our Chapter.
  • Chapter membership is officially at 71 members.  The two newest members are Reggie Carter and Theodore Combs.
  • Our treasurer reports that we have approximately $4600 available to spend on activities for the year.
  • Group riding safety tips for this month:
    • Show up on time for the scheduled ride, usually slightly before KSU time, to hear a ride briefing
    • Arrive with plenty of gas for the ride
    • Comply with staggered riding formation for safety, single file around corners
    • Maintain appropriate spacing, approximately 2 secs behind rider immediately in front of you
    • Be aware of “fresh” riders who may not be as experienced as you
    • Let someone in the group know if you leave the group
    • Most important – RIDE TO YOUR ABILITY
